PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To load a film cartridge by opening a cartridge chamber cover whatever position in an optical axis direction a lens barrel exists at when the film cartridge is discharged from a cartridge chamber, and to prevent the cartridge chamber cover from opening in a state where the film is fed from the loaded film cartridge or the cartridge chamber cover from being inadvertently opened in the midst of setting the using state of the film cartridge. SOLUTION: This device is provided with locking means 22 and 26 displaced to a locking release position where the cartridge chamber cover is set to an opening feasible state and a locking position where it is set to an opening unfeasible state in accordance with the moving position of the lens barrel in the optical axis direction, and locking release means 25 and 24 displacing the locking means to the locking release position interlocked with the actuation of a film cartridge discharging means 24.
