In producing clad material by explosive bonding, the cladding is arranged to form a series of angles with the base material and the explosive in foil form is provided on the side of the cladding remote from the base material. The base material may be in the form of a hollow cylinder and the inside or outside may be clad. The cladding 2 in one embodiment is of stainless steel, is of corrugated form and is covered with a similarly corrugated explosive foil 3 which is detonated at an end point 4. In an embodiment in which the cladding is introduced within a cylinder, the ends of the explosive and cladding are slightly overlapped. |
