A bobbin winder, comprises a clamp and cutting unit with a cutting lever, fitted with a clamp/cutter, which is moved by a drive between an active and an inactive setting. The cutting lever is linked with a swing yarn guide lever, through a carrier, on the opposite side of the bobbin frame. The cutting lever works with the yarn guide lever so the clamped yarn is formed into a chord. A bobbin winder, comprises a clamp and cutting unit (4) with a cutting lever (16), fitted with a clamp/cutter (17), which is moved by a drive (14) between an active and an inactive setting. The cutting lever is linked indirectly with a swing yarn guide lever (27), through a carrier (24), on the opposite side of the bobbin frame when it is swung in. The cutting lever works with the yarn guide lever so the clamped yarn (34) at the clamp/cutter is formed into a chord positioned between the bobbin sleeve holding plate (13) and the foot of a new bobbin sleeve (3), taken from the bobbin store (35).
