PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a response controlled structure which can be installed while unifying its footprint, and efficiently absorbs building vibration energy ranging from a minute amplitude to a large amplitude. SOLUTION: The response controlled structure 20 has a hysteresis damping added damper 28 and a viscous damping added damper built in a space enclosed by upper and lower beams 26, 24, and right and left columns 22 of the building, by using an installing member. The installing member includes a first installing member 40 for installing the hysteresis damping added damper 28 on the upper and lower beams 26, 24, and a second installing member 44 for installing the viscous damping added damper 30 to a location between the upper and lower beams 26, 24. The first installing member 40 consists of block members 40a, 44a, and the second installing member 44 consists of block members 40b, 44b, 44c, respectively. The dampers are attached to one of the first and second installing members 40, 44 and an interval between the adjacent right and left columns 22, in a manner occupying a space except for a space 46, over the entire height between the upper and lower beams 26, 24.
