The burner has a casing (1) that is open on one side and contains a preferably plate-formed burner element (2) with a number of combustion channels and a funnel-shaped reflector casing (5) closed at the open casing side. The casing forms a fuel-air mixture from a fuel supply (3). A wind protection device (7) of rigid, heatproof material is arranged at the open casing side and has a number of openings. The wind protection device extends from the reflector casing in all three axis of the casing.
