<p>Disclosed is the unexpected discovery that flavopiridol binds tightly to the transcription elongation factor, P-TEFb and dramatically inhibits its activity. As P-TEFb is required for HIV propagation and replication, this invention provides new methods, compositions and kits for the effective treatment of HIV infections and AIDS using flavopiridol, both alone and in combination with other therapies.</p> |
