The invention relates to a cooking surface comprising a cooking surface plate (3), especially made of a glass-ceramic material, under which at least one heating element (5) is arranged and which is provided for heating a cooking vessel that can be placed upon the cooking surface plate. The inventive cooking surface also comprises a temperature sensor (29) for measuring the temperature of the cooking surface plate. Inside the heating element, said temperature sensor senses the temperature of the underside of the cooking surface plate and is connected to a control unit (101) provided for controlling the heat output of the heating element. The aim of the invention is to achieve a sufficient level of measuring accuracy with a high safety standard. To this end, the temperature sensor (29) is connected to a thermoconductive element (25; 85) which is thermoconductively connected to the underside of the cooking surface plate (3), and the element (25; 85) completely covers the temperature sensor (29) up to the cooking surface plate (3).
