摘要 A number of light-emitting fibers (100) in side-by-side array comprise a display (10). Each fiber (100) includes a number of light-emitting elements (180) disposed along the length of one surface of an optical fiber (110), such as an electro-luminescent material (130), e.g., an OLED material, disposed between hole injecting and electron injecting electrodes (122, 140, 150). Contacts (152, 154) on the top ones of the electrodes (140, 150) are connected by a conductor (200) disposed transverse to the longitudinal direction of the fiber (100). The conductors (200) are preferably deposited on the optical fibers (100) by mask deposition, preferably utilizing masks (520) adapted for contemporaneously depositing a metal conductor (200) across a plurality of fibers (100). Electronic circuits (310, 410) having patterned conductors (332, 432) corresponding to the transverse conductors (200) may be connected thereto by solder, conductive adhesive and the like (220).
