<p>An apparatus and method for storing cargo in a vehicle having a flat horizontal surface, employ strips (10, 12), which may be separate or part of a unitary member, that have openings (18, 20, 22, 24) adapted to receive pins (38, 40, 42, 44). The openings (18, 20, 22, 24) have vertical sections extending downwardly and horizontal sections extending forward in the direction of vehicle travel. The bins (30) have an upper storage area and pins (38, 40, 42, 44) mounted at the bottom of the bin (30). The pins are directed first through the vertical section and then through the horizontal section of the openings (18, 20, 22, 24). The pins (38, 40, 42, 44) may extend outwardly from a reduced width area at the bottom of the bin (30), or may be centrally mounted at the bottom of the bin (30). Alternatively, pins (158, 160) are mounted to the strips (156) and openings (148, 150) are formed in the bins (142). The strips may be formed into a unitary frame (68).</p> |
