<p>A gene encoding a polypeptide comprising the Lyso-1 receptor which is homologous to the EDG6 receptor, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) transcription factors, RNA polymerases, chemicals and medicaments that modulate expression of the above gene; (2) mRNA transcribed from the above gene, including splice variants and isoforms; (3) cDNA derived from the above mRNA; (4) protein derived from the above mRNA or cDNA; (5) antibodies or antisera directed against the above protein or its epitope(s); (6) an expression system for eukaryotic cells, yeast cells, xenopus oocytes, baculovirus, insect cells or bacterial cells, which causes expression of the above protein, either natural or recombinant; (7) ligand binding and screening assays for natural or recombinant receptors, or cells or cell membranes containing these receptors; (8) transgenic or knockout animals with changed or no expression of these receptors; (9) gene therapy using the receptor, gene, mRNA or cDNA and its use and development; (10) sense and antisense oligonucleotides from the gene, and their use; (11) diagnosing and treating disease associated with the receptor, its gene or mRNA (xii) hybridization techniques, sequencing, SSCP, RFLP, Northern, Southern and Western blots, expression arrays, antibodies and mutation analysis; (12) development of new medicaments and technologies, and evaluation of existing medicaments and technologies; (13) diagnosing and analyzing Gessler-Wilm's tumor using the receptor and above flanking gene; and (14) gene duplication from chromosome 19 to chromosome 11 (or from chromosome 11 to chromosome 19) where the gene is associated with the EDG6 receptor of chromosome 19 or the new Lyso1 receptor of this invention on chromosome 11, at 11p13-p15 and with Gessler Wilm's tumor.
