To give a fireproof cladding, and especially at cable channels, a swelling mass is used as the fireproof covering (10). A carrier (20) is used, of ceramic or mineral fibers, with a generally closed surface. Ventilation holes (18) are made in the cladding as required. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a fireproof cladding, which has a carrier (20) of a woven material having, before coating, an opening cross section of maximum 50%. (2) a carrier production process, where the carrier fabric (20) is fixed by a swelling mass, and the fabric surface is coated with a swelling mass.
