The tubular ribbon material (14), to clad bearings, is knitted using a twin yarn system where one yarn (16) forms a full row of stitches (20). The second yarn (18) is bonded into the row of stitches (20) with the first yarn (16) by tuck loops (28) to give yarn floats. The second yarn (18) is knitted in a consistent sequence of tuck loops (28) and yarn floats (30). The yarn floats (30) are offset from each other in different rows using the second yarn (18), and are offset by one stitch (22) in successive rows. The first yarn (16) is composed of synthetic fibers or filaments, with a thickness of 900-2000 dtex. The second yarn, of synthetic filaments, has a thickness of 500-1800 dtex. The knitted tubular ribbon (14) is heated for stabilizing at a temperature of at least 200[deg]C, and preferably at a temperature of 200-300[deg]C for a duration of 0.5-2.0 minutes.
