PURPOSE: A method and device of a wide area water management system are provided to reduce the damage due to the flood or drought and effectively use the water over the wide region by conveying water in a flooded area to a drought area. CONSTITUTION: A wide area water management system includes many intermediate storage containers(100,130) mounted at the mountaintops instead of canals and connected to rivers(101), reservoirs(102), water purification plants(103), seawater distillation centers(104), seawater filtering centers(105), subterranean water(106) via pipes, pipes for connecting the intermediate storage containers, pump units for conveying water in a flooded area to a drought area, intermediate pipes connected to flexible pipes at contacting parts with the water, a control system for controlling the operation of the pumps, and a main connection pipe, wherein a ratio between a diameter R of the main connection pipe and a diameter r of the flexible pipes and n end connection pipes satisfies a formula, R¬2/r¬2=n for minimizing resistance of pumping water from the end connection pipes.
