The support includes integral insulating tongues which can be used or folded away as required. The insulating base for an electrical connection (5) co-operates with a cover (6) in order to define a number of spaces (51 - 54) for receiving the bars (1-4) of a connection bar system. The spaces extend in the direction of the principle axes of these bars (XX'), up to the edges (5a, 5b) of the base. Each space in the base includes at least one and preferably two deformable elastic tongue(s) (56). In one position each tongue separates the space in which the bar is received from the outside, and in the second deformed position the tongue it is folded down allowing the bar to lie over the top of the tongue. The tongues may be formed as part of one integral piece with the base.
