<p>The guide member for enabling an associated mechanical part to be slidable and centred, includes a shank (10) extending along a longitudinal axis (12). A circumferential portion of the external surface of the shank (10) is provided with helical grooves (14), wherein the crests (16) formed between respective pairs of adjacent turns of the grooves (14) have a flat surface substantially parallel to the axis (12) of the shank (10). <??>A method for manufacturing such guide member involves producing a preform of the shank (10); rolling a portion of the external surface of the shank (10) so as to form helical grooves (14); and rolling the tops of the crests (16) between respective turns of the grooves (14) with a flat tool in such a way that the surface thereof is substantially parallel to the axis (12) of the shank (10). <IMAGE></p> |
