PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a quartz crucible used for growing a silicon single crystal in such a state that the quartz crucible can be reused. SOLUTION: After completing the growth of a silicon single crystal 13, a low density carbon fiber formed body 14 is immersed into a silicon melt 12 remaining in the quartz crucible 3. Then, all amount of the silicon melt 12 is allowed to be absorbed by the low density carbon fiber formed body 14 and the silicon melt 12 is removed from the quartz crucible 3. Thereby, the formation of crack in the quartz crucible 3 during cooling is prevented, and the quartz crucible 3 is recovered is such a state that the crucible can be reused.
