PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device allowing continuous printing of a large amount of paper by mounting it to an existing image forming device. SOLUTION: A longitudinal paper feeding device 300 mounted to a paper feeding tray 203 with a mounting paper 350 is provided with a detecting sensor 510 for detecting existence of paper 3 on the paper feeding tray 203. When the detecting sensor 510 detects that the paper 3 does not exist on the paper feeding tray 203, power from a motor 640 is transmitted to a spindle 620. A cam 622 mounted to the spindle 620 presses down a lever part 612 of a pressing lever 610 by rotation of the spindle 620. The cam 622 presses down the lever part 612 of the pressing lever 610, thereby upwardly rotating a body 611 of the pressing lever 610. By upward rotation of the body 611, an engaging state between the body 611 of the pressing lever 610 and an engaging part 413 of a pressing plate 410 is released, the paper 3 inserted between a separating plate 411 and a pressing plate 420 is pressed toward a paper feeding roller 622 from the back face side of the paper 3 to reach a position contactable with the paper feeding roller 622.
