PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel for fishing capable of automatically and continuously carrying out vertically swinging operations in a same layer where fishes swim and further performing the on/off changeover of a clutch mechanism even when an electric power of a battery fails. SOLUTION: This electric reel 1 for fishing is characterized in that the electric reel 1 is provided with an electric operating means 13A for electrically performing driving operations of the clutch mechanism 40 and a manually operating means 13B for manually carrying out the driving operations of the clutch mechanism 40 in the electric reel 1 for fishing equipped with a spool 8 freely rotatably supported between both side slates 10a and 10b of a reel body 2, a motor 12 for rotating and driving the spool 8, a decelerating mechanism 20 for decelerating the rotary motion of the motor 12 and transmitting the decelerated rotary motion to the spool 8, and the clutch mechanism 40 capable of changing over the spool 8 to both states of a freely rotating state and a fishing line winding state.
