PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a liquid discharge head of a high rate of discharge openings in which an ink discharge power is less lost by bubbles. SOLUTION: A plurality of liquid channels 3 are respectively connected to a common liquid supply chamber 6 via liquid supply ports 5. Each liquid supply channel 3 communicates with the discharge opening 7. A movable member 8 is cantilever supported via a minute interval to at least part of the liquid supply port 5 at the side of the liquid channel 3. An end of the movable member 8 at the side of a free end 8B is kept in contact with a stopper 5b of a supply part-forming member 5A in the periphery of the liquid supply port 5. In an operation of discharging ink by generating the bubble 21 by a heating unit 4 at a bubble generation region 11 of the liquid channel 3, a time after the bubble is generated before the movable member 8 is moved to shut the liquid supply port 5 is shortened. Accordingly, a loss of the discharge power by the movement of ink to the liquid supply port 5 from the liquid channel 3 is reduced and a discharge efficiency is improved.
