PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder in which print operation can be sustained even upon occurrence of step out during sheet feed operation while suppressing disturbance due to step out. SOLUTION: The recorder completing an image by alternately repeating scanning on a recording medium with a recording head and movement of the recording medium through a recording medium feeding means comprises means for detecting shift in the feeding amount of recording medium due to step out of the recording medium feeding means, and means for shifting print data depending on a shift detected by the step out detecting means wherein the data shift means prints the shifted print data.
