PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning a press intermediate plate which can remove foreign matters attached to the press intermediate plate without using high pressure water. SOLUTION: A press intermediate plate 6 is irradiated with laser beams to remove foreign matters attached to the plate 6. In that case, as a laser oscillating device 2, an oscillator using carbon dioxide lasers is used. Further, a lens 5 is provided on a path of laser beams, and the plate 6 is set at a position offset from the focus of the laser beams.
