PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxetane compound for cationic polymerization having high polymerizing property and improved heat resistance, a method of preparing the compound and further a cationically polymerizable composition containing the compound. SOLUTION: An oxetane compound expressed by the general formula 1. The compound is obtained by carrying out the transesterification of a carbonic acid diester with an alicyclic diol followed by decarboxylation. The cationically polymerizable composition is obtained by compounding the compound with a cationic-polymerization initiator.
