PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jewel ornamental base which is useful when a jewel is inserted between the two severed opposite surfaces and makes the inserted jewel look brilliant without damaging its aesthetic appearance. SOLUTION: In the jewel ornamental base, part of the loop-shaped jewel ornamental base A is severed and on the two opposite surfaces 1A, 1B separated by the severed part jewel engaging 2 are formed such the jewel D is held with its the front surface facing in the direction where the severed part of the loop is seen. At a point of the jewel engaging groove 2 on the side of the back D1 of the jewel D is provided a concave portion 3 which opens to the two opposite surfaces 1A, 1B and the back 11 of the jewel ornamental base A to guide light to the back D1 of the jewel D.
