PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately stop a driven roller 30a in stop position. SOLUTION: A power transmission device 70 comprises a torque limiter 72 arranged between an electric motor M and the driven roller 30a and an electromagnetic clutch 94 for stopping the rotation of the driven roller 30a during operation and permitting the free rotation of the driven roller 30a during non-operation, and a copying machine 100 comprises using the same. During non-operation of the electromagnetic clutch 94, the rotation driving force of the electric motor M is transmitted via the torque limiter 72 to the driven roller 30a to permit the rotation of the driven roller 30a. During operation of the electromagnetic clutch 94, the rotation of the driven roller 30a is stopped and the transmission of the rotation driving force from the electric motor M to the driven roller 30a is interrupted by the torque limiter 72 to keep the rotation of the driven roller 30a stopped.
