FIBROUS WATER-ABSORBING MATERIAL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibrous water-absorbing material that is biodegradable, exerts high gel strength after water absorption and high aqueous sodium chloride solution and provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The objective fibrous water-absorbing material comprises galactomannan or its derivative and a polyvalent metallic ion and has the absorption of deionized water and 5 wt.%-concentration sodium chloride aqueous solution of >=20-fold self weight of the fiber material.
