PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent butting or unfeeding of a sheet material to a separating means, even if the sheet material has a bent tip and to prevent bundle shift of the sheet materials on a mounting block and bundle thrust to the separating means. SOLUTION: This sheet material conveying device comprises a paper feeding roller 1 for sequentially feeding the sheet materials S on a paper feeding tray 11, a separating/conveying roller 3 and a separating pad 4 for separating and conveying the sheet materials fed by the paper feeding roller 1 one by one, and an oscillatable oscillating guide 14 for guiding the sheet materials to the gap between the paper feeding roller 1 and the separating/conveying roller 3. The oscillating guide 14 includes an elastic member 15 elastically deformable in a contact part with the sheet materials so as to guide the sheet materials to a nip part between the separating/conveying roller 3 and the separating pad 4.
