PURPOSE: Provided is a cleansing agent which is highly effective for makeup removing with excellent lathering and can be neatly washed out, as well as for washing hairs with refreshing after-shampoo feelings. CONSTITUTION: The cleansing agent comprises surfactants and polyoxyalkylene carboxylic acid ester represented by the following general formula(1); wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl or branched alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; m, n, X and Y are integers from 0 to 5 but are not concurrently 0; and R3 is a branched or straight alkylene group of 0 to 10 carbon atoms.
