[Also in Division F2] An oil filter for location in a crankcase of an I.C. engine (Fig. 1, not shown), comprises a flat envelope, made of a single sheet of filter paper, having a fold along one edge 54 and the remaining 'three edges crimped together between the edges 34 of a two-part, integral enclosing housing 20, 22, made of impervious sheet metal with corrugations extending transversely to edge channel 26. An outlet IS extends from channel 26, and an inlet 32 opens into aperture 30 round which an aperture (52) in the envelope is crimped. The paper may have rough surfaces to facilitate internal and external oil flow. The upper housing member may have local depressions (60-70) to accommodate engine parts. |
