PREPARATION METHOD OF 2-IMIDAZOLIDINETHIONE

PURPOSE: Provided is a method to prepare 2-imidazolidinethione characterized in conducting nucleophilic addition reaction at room temp., under atmospheric pressure and cyclization reaction at the same reactor yet obtain pure product. Oxidation of byproduct hydrogen sulfide eliminates the bad odor of the product and the wastewater. CONSTITUTION: The compound is represented by chemical formula 1 and the synthetic process inculdes the steps of: reacting 1,2-diaminothane, chemical formula 2, with carbon disulfide at 20-30deg.C, under atmospheric pressure and in water as solvent for 3-4 hours; cyclizing the above reaction mixture in the same vessel at 70-90deg.C for 3-10 hours; oxidizing the cooled resultant with hydrogen peroxide, filtering, drying and pulverizing to get the product in high yield.
