PURPOSE: A device and a method for protecting an abnormal voltage of a monitor are provided to correspond to a product abnormality quickly, and to perform a diagnosis and a repair easily by performing an internal circuit protection operation for a turn-off of an electric source in case of sensing an abnormality of the electric source. CONSTITUTION: A device for protecting an abnormal voltage of a monitor includes a key input part(11), an electric source part(12), an A/D converter(13), a memory part(14), a control part(15), an electric source control part(17), a display part(18), and an input/output part(16). The key input part(11) is for inputting various operation orders and an electric source turn-on/off. The electric source part(12) supplies an operational electric source to each part. The A/D converter(13) converts a source voltage of the electric source part(12) into a digital signal. The memory part(14) stores the first reference voltage and the second reference voltage. The control part(15) compares the digital signal with the first reference voltage and the second reference voltage, and turns off the electric source in case of sensing an electric source abnormality according to the comparison result, and outputs a control signal for displaying a sensing result. The electric source control part(17) is for controlling the electric source turn-on/off. The display part(18) displays the sensing result. The input/output part(16) transmits outputs of the key input part(11) and the control part(15) to the electric source control part(17) and the display part(18).
