PURPOSE: A method is provided to adjust maximum injection pressure in a high-pressure accumulator of a direct injection type gasoline internal combustion engine, and make all the injection valves of a fuel metering system open certainly on one hand and use resources of the fuel metering system optimally on the other hand. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step for adjusting the predetermined injection pressure as starting pressure, a step for starting from the starting pressure and increasing the injection pressure in order to check whether the injection valves open simultaneously or not, a step for terminating the increase of the injection pressure as soon as at least one of the injection valves no longer open, a step for reducing the injection pressure by the preset magnitude, and a step for using the reduced injection pressure as the maximum injection pressure of the high-pressure accumulator.
