PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMIC AND THE METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME DEVICE

PURPOSE: A piezoelectric ceramic and the method of manufacturing the same device are provided to achieve a piezoelectric element having sufficient strength and hardness even if the size is small. CONSTITUTION: The piezoelectric ceramic consists essentially of lead titanate, and contains 0.1-5 wt.% tungsten element expressed in terms of WO3 and added thereto. The crystalline particles in the proportion of >= 75% constituting the ceramic is distributed within the range of 0.2-0.8 μm particle diameters. Thus, the mechanical strength can be increased even if it has a small size, the hardness can be also highly increased, and an excellent response can be obtained in the high frequency region.
