The invention relates to a frame, especially an auxiliary frame (1) for a motor vehicle, which is embodied as a substantially hollow section (5). The hollow section (5) consists of deformation and supporting areas (3, 4) in addition to reinforcing means (2). The reinforcing means (3) are associated with the deformation areas. They exhibit a given solidity and/or rigidity in order to deflect crash energy to the supporting areas (4), whereby deformation energy is received in the deformation and supporting areas (3, 4) in a uniform manner.
