A centrifugal gas purifier (120) comprises a housing (122) in which a centrifugal oil trap (164) is rotatably mounted. An electric motor (152) rotates the centrifugal oil trap (164) so that the gas entering through the inlet (124) rebounds off the inner surfaces of the side wall (168) of the oil trap (164), and exits through the outlet (126). As the oil trap (164) rotates, oil is picked up by a spinning skirt (182) form a reservoir (156) defined in the housing (122). The oil centrifuges outwardly to provide an oil film extending up the innermost surface of the side wall (168), with the particulate matter in the gas being trapped on the oil film. The inlet (124) is fed form a primary inlet (128) which is formed with an outlet manifold (130). A plurality of cooling pipes (132) extend form the outlet manifold (130), the cooling pipes (132) defining a gas cooler (136) for preventing the oil in the housing (122) form evaporating or over-heating. |
