PURPOSE: An urn is provided which prevents moisture, performs antibacterial function and prevents decay of powder of ashes by manufacturing an urn using a main material of fine powder of onyx so that far-infrared rays are emitted from the urn itself. CONSTITUTION: In an ordinary porcelain (pot) shaped urn manufactured by the processes of pulverizing, kneading, first firing and second firing, the onyx urn is manufactured by adding 10 to 15 wt.% of onyx powder having a particle size corresponding to a sieve size of 100 to 200 meshes based on the total weight of raw material before kneading the mixture, and glazing the inner wall of the urn using a glaze in which onyx powder having a particle size corresponding to a sieve size of 200 to 300 meshes is mixed in a mixing ratio of 10 to 25 wt.% of the total weight of glaze. In a method for manufacturing an ordinary porcelain (pot) shaped urn manufactured by the processes of pulverizing, kneading, first firing and second firing, the method for manufacturing the onyx urn comprises the processes of adding 10 to 15 wt.% of onyx powder having a particle size corresponding to a sieve size of 100 to 200 meshes based on the total weight of raw material before kneading the mixture; and glazing the inner wall of the urn using a glaze in which onyx powder having a particle size corresponding to a sieve size of 200 to 300 meshes is mixed in a mixing ratio of 10 to 25 wt.% of the total weight of glaze.
