PURPOSE: An adaptive liquid crystal monitor is to allow the monitor to be adaptively controlled by a PC(personal computer) without installating a monitor driving program, and also a user to facilely exchange the monitor. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal module(41) has a liquid crystal panel and a driving circuit for driving the liquid crystal panel. A backlight unit(42) is disposed at a rear portion of the liquid crystal panel to scan light. A scaling portion(43) controls a gray scale of video data to be transmitted from a PC main body to the liquid crystal module. An inverter(44) varies a voltage signal for control light amount generated from the backlight unit. A control portion(45) controls the scaling portion and the inverter responding to a controlling instruction generated from the PC main body. A memory(46) has information for a displaying data channel and information for controlling the monitor. The memory is connected with a bus for the displaying data channel through which the video data is transmitted from the PC main body to the scaling portion.
