PURPOSE: A foot plate for a hermetic shell is provided to install a single and tandem compressors without requiring remodeling though so far requiring the remodeling of a flange of a tripod plate when using a structure for installing the single compressor for installing the tandem compressors. CONSTITUTION: A foot plate(16) for mounting a compressor(12) includes a mounting plate(70), a pair of upwardly extending flanges(74,76), a pair of downwardly extending flanges(78,80) and an upwardly extending mounting flange. The mounting flange is utilized to secure a compressor by being attached to the shell(29) of the compressor. When tandem compressor assemblies(10) are used, the pair of upwardly extending flanges provide clearance for a pair of rails(20) which interconnect the tandem compressors without having to modify the foot plates. The foot plates are welded or brazed to the rails.
