<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 3-port optical circulator small in size and low in cost. SOLUTION: The 3-port optical circulator is provided with first and second polarized wave rotation devices. The first polarized wave rotation device is composed of the first - third birefringent plates 1-3 disposed in order in a forward direction of an optical path, a first 1/2 wavelength plate 5e which is inserted between the first birefrigent plate 1 and the second first birefrigent plate 2, and is placed between one optical path of two beams in the polarized wave cross beam pair being made incidence in the forward direction, and a second 1/2 wavelength plate 5f placed between one optical path of the two light beams in the polarized wave collimated beam pair being made incident inversely. The second polarized wave rotation device is inserted between the second birefrigent plate 2 and the third birefringent plate 3, and is composed including the Faraday rotor 4 with 45 degrees and 1/2 wavelength plates (5c, 5d). The 3-port optical circulator emits the light beam being made incident from a first port (1) in a second port (2), and emits the light beam being made incident from the second port (2) in a third port (3).</p> |
