PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which exhibits a stable floating characteristic and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: Air inflow side edges of rails 11 of the magnetic head provided with a slider 10 having the plural rails 11 on a surface facing the front surface of a recording medium are not chamfered and the air outflow side edges of the rails 11 are selectively chamfered.
