摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method of measuring bit error rate in an OFDM communication system are provided which compares a reference pilot pattern with a demodulated received pilot pattern using a pilot channel used in an OFDM transmission system to easily measure bit error rate. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus of measuring bit error rate in an OFDM communication system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter has a pilot pattern inserting part for inserting a predetermined first reference pilot pattern into the sub-channel of input data, and an OFDM modulator for OFDM-modulating the transmission data into which the reference pilot pattern was inserted and transmitting the data by frames. The receiver includes a pilot pattern detector(20) for OFDM-demodulating the data symbol to detect only the pilot pattern, and a bit error rate calculator(28) for comparing a predetermined second reference pilot pattern with the demodulated pilot pattern to detect and accumulate the number of pilot errors and dividing the number of pilot errors by the total number of received pilot patterns to measure bit error rate.
