PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document image recognision method and a system therefor by which a background color is accurately specified even when large graphic and photograph exist in a document. SOLUTION: In the method for specifying the background color of a document image, the document image is inputted as a digital image, colors in the document image are clustered, the 1st color of a 1st cluster having the largest number of pixels among a plurality of clusters obtained by the clustering and the 2nd color of a 2nd cluster whose number of pixels is smaller than that of the 1st cluster are decided, and when the difference between the number of pixels of the 1st and 2nd clusters is smaller than a prescribed value and the 2nd color is distributed over the entire document, the 2nd color is decided as the background color of the document image. |
