SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of a catalytic converter for exhaust emission control made of a columnar catalyst to control exhaust emission by passing exhaust gas in the axial direction, a case to store the catalyst and a sealing member interposed between the catalyst and the case and constituted of a heat resistant fiber accumulated body has such characteristics that it is constituted of a winding process to wind the sealing member around an outer periphery of the catalyst, a compaction process to make a compacted sealing member by pressurizing the sealing member by a compaction jig to cover an outer peripheral surface of the sealing member after the winding process and a charging process to charge only the catalyst and the compacted sealing member wound around the catalyst by pressurizing the catalyst after the compaction process.
