PURPOSE: An apparatus for monitoring a relay using an OPC(Ole for Process Control) interface is provided to easily connect a relay to all monitoring systems and easily change a driver according to variation of a hardware. CONSTITUTION: An OPC server(43) functions as a driver for communication with an OPC client and an application program. OPC client and application program part(41,42) have monitoring programs for monitoring the relay(45) by using the OPC server(43). A converting part(44) analyzes a communication protocol. A relay monitoring apparatus(40) and the converting part(44) are connected with an RS-232C cable. The converting part(44) and the relay(45) are connected with a network using a certain inner protocol. Although there are many kinds of application programs, once one OPC server(43) is made out, data of the relay are obtainable. That is to say, all super application programs can be supported with only one communication driver, namely OPC server(43). Even if the communication protocol of the relay is changed, if the communication driver(OPC server(43)) is changed, the super application programs can obtain the data through the same method.
