<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a radar apparatus enhanced in detection capacity and anti- stealth performance. SOLUTION: The radar apparatus is equipped with an optimum polarization selection circuit 8 using the principal scattering matrix of clutters and candidate target stored in data bases 12, 13 to make the principal component of the receiving power of the clutter zero and determining transmission polarization for maximizing the principal component of target power and a polarization optimizing circuit 3 performing suppression of the clutter using the determined transmission polarization, the principal scattering matrix of clutters and the scattering matrix for each resolving power cell of an object to be observed stored in a data base.</p> |
