<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a K×K optical switch whose insertion loss is smaller than that of the conventional practice and whose wiring is easier than that of the conventional one. SOLUTION: When K is defined as K=M×N (M, N are integers of 2 or more), the K×K optical switch is constituted of an input port 1, a 1×M optical matrix switch 5 which is connected to the input port 1, N×N optical matrix switches 7, 10 which are connected to the 1×M optical matrix switch 5, an M×1 optical matrix switch 13 which is connected to these N×N optical matrix switches 7, 10 and an output port 2 connected to the M×1 optical matrix switch 13.</p> |
