PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide size and weight reduction for a AC-DC converter using simple structure. SOLUTION: This AC-DC converter is provided with at least two electricity- light transforming elements, which illuminate with AC as a power supply and have one-way polarity parallel-connected, so as to have reverse polarity to each other, a switching means which switches the connection of the respective electricity-light transforming elements to the AC power supply to illuminate the respective electricity-light transforming elements alternately in the forward and backward directions of the AC power supply, ad a light-electricity transforming element, which receives the light emitted from the respective electricity-light transforming elements and generates electric power corresponding to the light receiving amount.
