PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vending machine capable of selling various kinds of merchandise. SOLUTION: The vending machine is provided with hanging racks 4 each having an endless chain 34 for freely rockingly holding hooks 38 for hanging the merchandise G, a chain driving mechanism 36 for driving the chain 34 and a hook rocking mechanism 40 for rocking the optional hook 38 held at the chain 34 based on its position information and posture information to fall the hung merchandise G. The posture of the hooks 38 is changed in accordance with the presence/absence of the merchandise G and in order to keep the posture, the hooks 38 are arranged in the recessed parts 52b of the chain 34 via leaf springs 60. Furthermore, merchandise information is displayed on the bottom surfaces of the projections 38e of the hooks 38.
