PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a film cartridge easily taken out from a cartridge chamber without disassembling a camera even in the case where a failure of the camera is caused, and also to prevent a cartridge chamber cover from being opened because of inadvertent operation of an operation member in the case where the film cartridge has been loaded. SOLUTION: This device is constituted by having a locking member to lock the cartridge chamber cover to close the cartridge chamber in a closed state, the operation member to set the cartridge chamber cover in an open state by resisting locking force by the locking means, holding means 21, 22 and 23 to hold the state in which the opening operation of the cartridge chamber cover by the operation member is made infeasible and the locked state of the cartridge chamber cover by the locking means, first holding release means 26a and 26b to release holding by the holding means and a second holding release means 26c to release the holding by the holding means.
