PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that can easily make a layout for main photographing and conduct field angle adjustment corresponding to the checked layout condition. SOLUTION: The electronic camera 1 photographing an object by using a semiconductor image pickup element 5 is provided with field angle adjustment means 2, 21 that adjust the size of a photographing area, display means 41, 14 that display a preliminarily photographed image in the case of performing preliminary photographing of the object, input processing means 25, 26, 32, 41 that receive the size information of a main photographing object area occupying the preliminary photographing image as the layout condition of the main photographing, a field angle calculation means 63 that calculates field angle information for main photographing on the basis of the field angle condition for the preliminary photographing and the size information inputted into the input processing means, and a control means 82 that controls the field angle adjustment means of the basis of the field angle information calculated by the field angle calculation means.
