PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing a seek operation in a disk drive including at least one data disk having a number of concentric data tracks and a transducer moved by an actuator in the radial direction with respect to the data tracks during a seek operation from a starting track to a target track. SOLUTION: After the request of seeking a target track from a starting track to a target track is received, a seek profile for controlling the application of a current to an actuator is obtained. The seek profile contains an actuator current level with respect to a seek operation based on the starting and target tracks, and a transducer target speed control value, thereby obtaining a desired audio output. The seek operation is carried out by applying an actuator current to the actuator as a control function.
